NAZI 3-D BOOK WITH PICTURE VIEWER 1941

Wien - Die Perle des Reiches
This is an extremely nice example of the scarce Raumbild-Verlag Otto Schönstein book ,,Wien - Die Perle des Reiches’’ (Vienna - Pearl of the Reich) by Dr. Ernst Holzmann. This 128-page, 8 x 11-1/2 inch hardcover book was published in München (Munich) in 1941 at the direction of the Culture Office of the city of Wien with an introduction by Reichsleiter and Reichsstatthalter (and former leader of the Hitler Youth) Baldur von Schirach.

(VIENNA - PEARL OF THE REICH)
Third Reich 3-D Photo Book Vienna
The name of the book is taken from a comment made by Germany’s 23rd Chancellor Adolf Hitler on 9 April 1938 when he said, “diese Stadt [Wien] ist in meinen Augen eine Perle!” (this city [Vienna] is in my eyes a perl).

Nazi Decorations in Vienna
Raumbild Verlag (Three Dimensional Picture Publishers) books were unique in that they contained photographic stereo-view cards and a fold-up metal device with which the cards could be viewed. If you are not familiar with this Nazi three-dimensional book, you need to know that it consists of a well-written text by Holzmann on the subject of Third Reich Vienna.

There are eight full-page, full-color plates in the text that depict the history of the city including the entry of the Hitler motorcade on 14 March 1938.

The special covers of this album are about 1/2-inch thick and are die-cut with five cavities that hold 100 special 3-D stereo photographs (real photographs - NOT halftone prints) and the metal viewer with glass lenses that is set up to view the photographs. The 100 stereo photos each measure 2-3/8 x 5 inches and have a full description of the subject printed on the back. Photo number 44 is missing from this set. When seen in the viewer each picture is incredibly three-dimensional, almost as if the scene was being viewed in real life.
Nazi Soldiers We know of no other way for a history buff to observe a three-dimensional view of the main historical sights of Vienna, including the Stephansdom , Hofburg and Prater Park during the Third Reich period. Statue and Swastika Flag
Naturally, the subject of Third Reich Vienna covers a wide range. Among the 100 three-dimensional views are Adolf-Hitler-Platz at the Rathaus, the Heldenplatz and the Hofburg, Hermann-Göring-Platz in front of the Votivkirche, Parliament, the Kaiserin Elizabeth Monument in the Volksgarten, the mighty Riesenrad (ferris wheel) at the Prater, the Strauss Memorial, Kärntnerstraße, Belvedere Palace, Schönbrunn Castle, the Wiener Messe, the Danube River, the Wienerwald, etc., etc.

This very rare book is hardbound in fine white linen with red, gold and black blocking on the covers and the spine. It is complete with all pictures except number 44. ,,Wien - Die Perle des Reiches’’ has a metal viewer and instructions. It is in like-new condition and GUARANTEED to be absolutely authentic historical Third Reich material over 60 years old.
